February Update

Ever since the onset of COVID-19 virus with all of its challenges, we at Multi Shelter Solutions have been fortunate to have a huge increase in interest in our products. We are grateful that people see such value in our greenhouses as they search for added food security amidst uncertainty.

This increase in interest during this time of uncertainty and extra protocols for safety have not happened without its own challenges. We are grateful for the patience which customers have shown and also their willingness to plan ahead.

Generally speaking we are getting people the information and numbers which they need within a week. Some of the more complex quotes or ones with a few extra situations do take a few extra days.

In the office, Maggie has been quickly acknowledging requests and identifying any missing information so that when Kelly or Norm does the quote, they have what is required.

We appreciate you giving us as much information as possible to reduce any back and forth and help your quote process go quicker. As a reminder we do not give quotes or delivery updates on our social media.

Please be aware that with the uncertainty and volatility of steel and aluminum costs, we are only guaranteeing our prices for 30 days. We understand people appreciate having those numbers available for their planning purposes on our website but the best way to ensure accuracy right now is to phone or email for a quote. As a heads up, we will be updating pricing on our website in the near future, to respond to the situation we are facing from our suppliers.

With our current workload, deliveries are being quoted at 10 weeks. Some of the larger or more complex buildings are being quoted as longer. We work at grouping things together in certain areas and some customers are surprised with quicker deliveries. This is something that should not be counted on.

Our office staff continues to reach out to customers just before delivery to ensure they are aware of delivery protocols. Acknowledgement of these protocols is mandatory for the safety of the driver but also in more and more situations, part of the necessary paperwork we must file in advance as we travel out of province.

We appreciate everyone helping to get these things organized quickly and efficiently. We are grateful that we are classified as essential service and are meticulous with ensuring paperwork is complete so that we can maintain that status.

We will continue to use our website and social media as best as we can, as a tool for keeping our customers informed and up to date on what is going on in our rapidly changing world.

We look forward to working with you on your greenhouse and shelter projects and wish you health and safety in the coming month and beyond.

Thank you for your interest and patience,

Norm & the Multi Shelters Team

Hunger Awareness Week

At Multi Shelter Solutions, we are committed to helping eliminate food insecurity and people going hungry. During the pandemic earlier this year, we were fortunate to be considered an essential service due to providing structures to grow food and take care of various equipment, animals and other tasks on the farm.

We have helped numerous food banks, particularly associated with schools, to help grow food for the people who need to use them. Partnering with schools, this also allows the ability to teach the kids how to grow the food that they, and their families, are eating.

This future planning and thinking is a sustainable way for all of humanity. With this week being Hunger Awareness week, we want to highlight this special cause and initiative, that is needed all year long. Through our Giving Back program at Multi Shelters, we have donated to various charities that provide food, as well as donating structures to communities in need. If you or someone you know has an organization that could benefit from this, please reach out and have a discussion from Norm about how Multi Shelters can partner with you to help make food insecurity a less prominent concern in our society. And please, if you see someone in need and can help, please do. We are all connected, we are all one.

Covid-19 Update from MSS

It has been a little bit since our last update so we wanted to take a moment to touch base with everyone.

First, we are grateful that we have been able to stay connected with everyone through our website and social media channels throughout this year, especially throughout the pandemic. Thank you for inviting us into your online space so we can stay in touch.

We are also so grateful to everyone who has followed measures set out by our government to help flatten the curve here in Canada, and our hearts go out to those still affected and living with the challenges. Our gratitude also goes out to the front line and essential workers that have stayed the course and helped keep the country, and world, running through these uncertain times.

As things reopen and new stages are approached, we want to remind everyone that we are keeping our office and shop facility closed to public visits for the foreseeable future. This means NO VISITS to Multi Shelters. We are still able to serve you via phone, email, and zoom meetings and tours. Unless you are picking up a prearranged order, if you show up in person, you will be asked to leave.

We also will continue to have the delivery protocols in place, of preparing the delivery area and signing our documentation so our driver is prepared, both when accessing check points, as well as when he arrives at your facility.

We appreciate everyone being mindful of both of these measures to keep everyone safe, and things running efficiently.

As far as we are aware, the annual trade shows we are involved with have all been cancelled, or if moved online, we will not be participating. Stay tuned for some exciting announcements in the days to come of ways we are working on to connect with you. We miss being able to chat at trade shows, and have some exciting new things in the works to connect with you and answer any questions you may have.

Thank you again to everyone as we continue to pull through the challenges of 2020. We are grateful to be part of your projects and look forward to working more with you! Stay safe and healthy, connect again soon.

Giving back to Food Banks Article

Winter Storms and Maintenance

With the upcoming storms in both Ontario and the east coast forecasted, we wanted to remind everyone: it’s okay, and even preferred that the buildings have some snow around them.

This prevents the wind from getting under them and it also means that the height above the ground is less. This significantly decreases the aerodynamic lift.

As we’ve stated in our winter care articles and in the installation guide, there are things you can do to prepare your building to withstand the storms as best as possible. Taking extra steps during the ‘worst case scenario’ situations can often make all the difference and help your building stay standing.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about any of these situations. Good luck and stay warm!
