Giving Back to Our Community

Every year at Multi Shelter Solutions we try to collaborate with non profit organizations and other volunteer opportunities to provide a shelter at low or no cost.

We have done shelters for Haiti after the earthquake, a shelter for an eye clinic in the Dominican Republic, arches for Magical Lights of Milton that donates back to the Milton Hospital at Christmas, greenhouse to Aroland First Nations in Northern Ontario to provide food for their community and learning opportunities for the students, and work with Food Bank projects out on the east coast to help provide fresh, healthy vegetables to those most in need, and the list continues to grow. See photos on our “giving back” page.

This is something we believe whole heartedly in and would very much like to work with more causes to help in whatever way we can.  We also want to express gratitude for the various opportunities we’ve had to help out non-profit and not-for-profit groups.

If you know of a project that could use our help, or are involved with something you’d like to see us put some help behind, please don’t hesitate to contact us and let us know about it. This is an ongoing initiative of Multi Shelter Solutions, and as a company, and all our staff, would love to see this continue. Please join us in taking some time to give back, and Pay It Forward. A little smile goes a long way.

Giving Back Greenhouse Opportunity

Multi Shelters values working with communities to help with charity and non-profit situations needing an extra boost of help, that we can give back whenever possible.

We have a wonderful opportunity coming up next week that we would like to share with you. Norm has been working closely with Johnny Theriault School and the community of Aroland First Nations, north of Thunder Bay. They are receiving a 20×48 Greenhouse for the school to use for teaching, and the community for fresh food. The community is quite excited for this opportunity and we are grateful to be part of the anticipation.

We would like to thank Breakfast Club of Canada for the opportunity of partnering with them to supply this greenhouse project. Norm will have to opportunity of meeting with the children and will be able to explain how this greenhouse will be used to produce some local fresh food.

We feel very grateful and fortunate to be involved with projects like this.

Giving back to Food Banks Article

We always appreciate stumbling upon others mentions of us, sharing how we can help others. We thought we’d share with you an article we recently found on the New Brunswick Food Security website http://www.nbfoodsecurity.ca/2013/11/

Multi Shelter Solutions helps local food bank extend the season!

(Source: ACORN blog)

ACORN conferences are a fun and educational way to connect with other organic producers and consumers from across Atlantic Canada and beyond.  Stronger connections lead to stronger communities and a greater organic resilience in the region.

photo(3)Norm  Eygenraam proved this at their Greenhouse Conference last February.  Norm, the President of Multi ShelterSolutions was so impressed by theWest End Food Bank’s Garden of Hope Project he offered to donate a greenhouse to the project.  The Garden had just completed construction on a new greenhouse and so thoughtfully asked if they could pass on the generous gift to another food project in the area. Foods of the Fundy Valley, a non-profit organization dedicated to the production and consumption of local goods in Albert County, gratefully accepted the greenhouse for their garden club at theRiverside Consolidated School in Riverside-Albert.  Now that their growing season has been extended, they plan to share their bounty by cooking hot lunches for the kids, and donating any excess to the Shepody Food Bank.

We at ACORN would like to say an official and public THANK YOU!  to Norm and his generous contribution to food production in New Brunswick. Be sure to chat with Norm and the rest of our supportive Trade Show partners at the Delta Beauséjour – November 20th – 22nd.www.acornconference.org.

*edit, ACORN conference for 2015 has ended last week, but you can find us back again there next year, and at other Organic Events around Ontario as well, Eco Farmers-December, Grey Bruce Farmers day-Eco Farm day-January, Guelph-January, Eco Farm Day-January
