Covid-19 Update from MSS

It has been a little bit since our last update so we wanted to take a moment to touch base with everyone.

First, we are grateful that we have been able to stay connected with everyone through our website and social media channels throughout this year, especially throughout the pandemic. Thank you for inviting us into your online space so we can stay in touch.

We are also so grateful to everyone who has followed measures set out by our government to help flatten the curve here in Canada, and our hearts go out to those still affected and living with the challenges. Our gratitude also goes out to the front line and essential workers that have stayed the course and helped keep the country, and world, running through these uncertain times.

As things reopen and new stages are approached, we want to remind everyone that we are keeping our office and shop facility closed to public visits for the foreseeable future. This means NO VISITS to Multi Shelters. We are still able to serve you via phone, email, and zoom meetings and tours. Unless you are picking up a prearranged order, if you show up in person, you will be asked to leave.

We also will continue to have the delivery protocols in place, of preparing the delivery area and signing our documentation so our driver is prepared, both when accessing check points, as well as when he arrives at your facility.

We appreciate everyone being mindful of both of these measures to keep everyone safe, and things running efficiently.

As far as we are aware, the annual trade shows we are involved with have all been cancelled, or if moved online, we will not be participating. Stay tuned for some exciting announcements in the days to come of ways we are working on to connect with you. We miss being able to chat at trade shows, and have some exciting new things in the works to connect with you and answer any questions you may have.

Thank you again to everyone as we continue to pull through the challenges of 2020. We are grateful to be part of your projects and look forward to working more with you! Stay safe and healthy, connect again soon.

A Message From Norm

As we start hearing rumblings of there soon to be an ease in restrictions, the times we are in continue to be challenging. As with many other companies, we have had to revise how we do things. Keeping our employees, our customers and our communities safe has been, and is the priority. More then ever before, I find that it is critical that we stay true to our values, our goal is to work with you.

We feel a tremendous sense of gratitude for the ways that customers and prospective customers have responded. There has been a huge spike in interest but also an unprecedented level of understanding and patience. We are in this together.

There are a lot of new opportunities as more people are determined to have more control of their personal food supply. We are grateful that those plans often include a Multi Shelter Solution greenhouse. We are doing our best to keep up with the inquiries while ramping up production. The reality of the situation is that lead times are being extended further then we have ever seen them.

Thank you for the words of encouragement, the level of interest, your patience and the trust you are showing in us with your orders.

Please continue to do your part for everyone’s safety.

Norm

March Features *So Many Applications! & Who We Are*

If you’re wondering a little bit about Multi Shelter Solutions and who we are, what our values are, and our process to help you find your shelter solution, we wanted to share a few articles this month so you can get to know us.

Why Choose Us?
This page has a bit about Norm’s history and the experience and approach that we have to every project that comes to us from you! It includes our video series on Values as well as a link to the video of Norm’s Greenhouses 101 presentation. “We don’t sell you a greenhouse, we help you buy one!”

Don’t take our word for it, here’s what others are saying!
We have been so grateful for the encouraging words and testimonials that people have shared about their experiences with us, on all our social platforms, on the phone and in emails. We wanted to honour those and share them with you in one place. If you have any to add, feel free to reach out and we will share yours too!

We want to help you find your shelter solution…here’s why!
This page is an overview of why we do what we do and how. Similar to Why Choose Us? it goes into a bit more depth

We have a number of resources on our website to share all the ways and applications which Multi Shelter buildings can be used. Norm has been in the industry for over 45 years and often says there isn’t much he hasn’t seen, and loves the challenge of coming up with new solutions for creative applications.

We have done a flying building to help an apartment building construction, a building over a boat sailing on the St. Lawrence over winter, a round building for a creative workshop area…as well as all the standard uses we have!

Applications Page & Various Ideas and Options

Profiles & Space Requirements
This page discusses the various heights in from the side you can roughly expect from our buildings to help you plan. We don’t bend any steel before we get an order, so this can be slightly adjusted as well if your requirement doesn’t fall within the chart. Please contact Norm for these custom cases we can do, for no additional charge. It also discusses the shapes and pros and cons of each. Stay tuned to this page later this month for a video from Norm explaining this further

We would love to discuss your project with you and how a Multi Shelter can help fit what you need. Have a look around our site for information and pricing, as well as the descriptions of what Multi Shelters values and how we work with you on your project. We look forward to hearing from you!

As part of our new monthly giving back initiative, $240 from structure purchases in February has been donated to Foodbanks Canada

In March we are supporting Breakfast Club Canada with a portion of every purchase

Thank you for helping us make a difference

Backyard Greenhouses

Threndyle1

please see more info at our backyard greenhouses page

This 12’W x 18’L High Profile Mini Greenhouse has a single layer of 6 mil plastic for the roof and ends.  It is used as a “season extender”.  To make it a year round structure a second layer of plastic would be added to the roof, and an inflator fan kit would be supplied to blow air in between the layers.*we only sell 7 mil plastic currently

This building sits on a 4” x 4” pressure treated beam (there are other environmentally friendly alternatives available as well), which is anchored into the ground.  Ventilation can be done manually  (through doors and windows or by adding roll-up sidewalls), or mechanically by adding an exhaust fan.

COLDFRAME vs. GREENHOUSE

COLD FRAME usually has a single plastic covered structure and used as a season extender
GREENHOUSE usually has a double plastic cover with air in between and sides that roll up for year round use and better heat efficiency.

AVAILABLE OPTIONS

  • Custom widths, heights & hoop spacing
  • Roof vents & forced ventilation packages
  • Various types & sizes of doors with end framing priced separately
  • 8mm polycarbonate sheeting for roof and/or ends
